The Stop Violence Program

What is Domestic Violence?
Domestic Violence is a system of behaviors used to maintain power and control over a partner.
If you are battered...There is help available. There are people that you can turn to for support and assistance. You are not alone. No one deserves to be beaten or hurt. You did not make the other person hurt you. Violence is a choice. If someone you know is being beaten you can help. Listen to what she says and believe her story no matter how strange or awful it may sound. Respect the danger of her situation and keep what she has to say confidential. Let her know she is not the cause of the violence and she has choices. Allow her to make her own choices and decisions. Support her during this time even if you do not agree with her decision she may make. Do not give up on her or stop giving her support.
